English Bulldog Stud Service to Start Shortly

All of our AKC Registered males are available for stud at this time. Call for stud prices, plus the cost of shipping the cooled semen (which is usually around $100.00 "FED EX" overnight delivery, weekdays; Friday's & Saturday's the charge is $125.00)                          
     
All of our males have been checked by a certified veterinarian for any deformities or bent tails in their sperm, they are also checked at different times of each year to make sure everything is still working properly.  The sperm is ALWAYS checked before shipping.   All stud fees must be paid prior to the extraction of semen from the male.   Please keep track of when the first day your female's heat cycle begins, (when she starts bleeding). This will give us a better idea when she will be ready to ovulate.
If you want cooled (shipped) semen, we would like to know as soon as your bitch comes in heat.     Please write down on a calendar the first day your female came in heat where you can find it easily      I always have shipping vials and extender on hand for a RUSH SHIPMENT.  Semen can be shipped overnight by "Federal Express".  I can have it shipped to your house or to your vet's office (the choice is yours). This can be done the very next day in most areas by 10:30 am and in other areas by Noon. After 9-11 this is the only safe way to have semen shipped. Fed-Ex is not open for SUNDAY deliveries. We need to know if this service will be needed, this is so we can get all the timing right for getting the semen shipped ASAP!

We also recommend that you have your vet split the collection we send in the vial.  This gives you two separate breedings a day apart for maximum breeding results, you will be sent enough to do this from the one vial or instead of splitting the vial you can order a second vial to be shipped the next day for $75.00 plus shipping $100.00 then you can split the second vial for 4 breedings. Just let us know when you would like the second vial so it can be shipped to arrive on time when you need it.

Many litters have been produced from a one vial shipment. Re-breeds (if your female doesn't take) cost $35.00 for packaging plus the shipping charges along with pick-ups (no charge for the semen), this is good for up to one year from the first ship date. If it is over a year you will need to start over.

The cost of this shipping service is $100.00 to cover all the shipping, testing and the equipment for shipping; on weekdays, for Thursday's & Friday's  this service is $125.00 (Fed-Ex charges more for these two delivery days) Add $50.00 for a RUSH FEE (This is paying the same day your shipment is needing to be sent, if you do this I have to change my schedule to accommodate your shipping needs at the last minute) if payment has NOT been made we cannot ship). If you want to pick your semen up there will be a $35.00 charge for packaging to get your semen home/to the vet safe. I will package it the same as if we were shipping it overnight for safety.

You will have enough time to get all this done, for when ovulation occurs it  takes the eggs 72 hours to be mature enough to become fertilized. Once bred, the male's sperm can survive for up to 3 days inside the female. 

After you breed your female you will want to make an appointment with your vet to plan her c-section,  (95% of all bulldogs need c-sections). I suggest that you get one, why risk losing your litter or your bitch???  I usually schedule a c-section, but I do let my females go into full labor prior to going to the vet's office.  Remember just because your bitch has reached her 62-63 day, the puppies could still be a few days early as semen can live in the bitch for up to 3 days.   .Things that can happen if are not prepared for a c-section: her cervix may fail to dilate or there may be torsion of the uterus. A dead puppy, water puppy or a sideways puppy could be blocking the cervix. She cannot have her babies if one of these occurs.
 
A normal incubation period is 63 days, puppies sometimes come early (57 days) and sometimes late...  Most females temperature will drop when they go into labor, 101.5 to 102.0 is normal, below 100.0 get ready to go to the vet's office! 

 

Fresh Cooled Semen

IMPORTANT CONTRACT INFORMATION: PLEASE READ!

We can ship fresh-chilled semen straight to your veterinarian. Cost will include stud fee and appropriate shipping costs. Semen shipped from us will be guaranteed to be alive and motile. If for some reason your veterinarian does not approve of the semen quality, your female must not be inseminated with the semen and you must contact us the same day of receipt of semen to inform us so we may arrange another shipment or a refund. However, if your veterinarian inseminates your female with the semen, ALL guarantees from us are void and there will be no refund. Conception after live, motile semen delivery is the sole responsibility of the female's owner and veterinarian. Accurate timing of the female's cycle  and proper use of the semen is crucial for your success. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us for any other details or information.

Instructions for Shipped Semen

1. Information we need to know:
• When you will need the semen. We need to know the day prior so it can be shipped overnight for next day morning delivery.
• Which stud you intend to use
• The first day of your females heat (if using a vet he can tell you what day the semen will need to be inseminated).
• Contact name, shipping address, and phone of to whom the semen will be shipped
• A copy of your female's pedigree and photo for our records and for filling out the breeder's information for registration (taken from the final price) to guarantee you a spot, when your female is ready.
2. Stud fee payment is required in advance plus shipping fees of $75 for FedEx Next Day Air.
3. The second vial and third shipment for same female require shipping fees of $100 for FedEx Next Day Air.
4. During collection there will be a semen analysis to make sure the stud's semen is of sufficient quality to produce puppies. We do add extender to enhance the longevity and the motility of the semen.
5. Please call as early as possible, so the semen can be sent out without delay. We will need to know before 4:30 pm if you need semen for the next morning. NOTE: Before shipping semen everything must be paid in full to ensure no delay on shipment. If a RUSH SHIPMENT* is needed add $25.00 extra

Checking the Motility of the Sample

• Motility of the semen sample always should be checked prior to insemination.
• Motility analysis should always be performed on samples warmed to 37°C (chilled sperm can appear non-motile or sluggish until warmed).
• Gently invert the sample tube several times to mix.
• Using a pipette, place a drop of semen on a pre-warmed microscope slide and cover with a pre-warmed cover slip.
• If available, keep the slide on a slide warmer or a heated microscope stage for a few minutes before checking the motility under the microscope.
• If your veterinarian does not approve of the semen quality, do not inseminate the female (see breeding contract above for more information).

Preparing for Insemination

• You may choose to inseminate the entire dose, or save half for insemination on the next day. Enough semen will be shipped for either case.
• Gently invert the sample tube several times to mix.
• If you chose to inseminate on two consecutive days, draw up half of the semen dose into the insemination syringe and store the remaining sample in the refrigerator overnight. (Divide the sample into two doses before warming. Do not warm the sample then re-cool it.)
• Warm the semen sample to be inseminated in your hand or pocket for a few minutes.
• Inseminate the female immediately.
